Language Requirements:For the teaching/working language, please refer to the information reported in the Academic Offer for each mobility position. All kinds of language certificates are accepted.


Remarks on the DOCUMENTS REQUIRED for the application:

  • Curriculum Vitae (written in Croatian or English),
  • for BA/MA mobilities the Learning Agreement containing planned course units at the University of Zagreb. To create the Learning Agreement, please check the Academic offer and study programmes/courses at UNIZG. The Learning Agreement may be modified after arrival and discussion with the academic coordinator.
  • for PhD/Post-Doc and Staff mobility an English or Croatian version of the research/teaching/training proposal must be submitted;
  • ACCEPTANCE LETTER IS NOT REQUIRED. It is warmly recommended only if you already have a contact at UNIZG and you want to declare that officially. In all the other cases we will proceed to evaluation of all applications and look for a local supervisor for your mobility.
  • Official Grade Transcript and Certificate of Enrolment (English or Croatian)*,
  • Copy of the ID card or passport (first page with the photo and personal data),
  • Proof of English level - B2 level on the Common European Reference for Languages is required (all kinds of language certificates are accepted)


* we don't require official translation of diplomas or transcripts during the application and selection stage. The official translation of the documents will be only required for Full programmes at this stage. Once accepted all candidates will be requested to send the official translation of the documents.

Although an acceptance letter from UNIZG is not necessary during the application stage, it is warmly recommended that you browse the institutional website of UNIZG (or the link provided in the Academic Offer) and look for one or more professors that work on the subjects of your interest, mentioning them in the Motivation in the application form: this will ease the evaluation process and will give you more chances of receiveing a positive evaluation.

Information before and after arrival:

Invitation letter:All beneficiaries will receive an information letter as soon the selection process is over. They will be informed about the details of their stay and the further procedure to be followed.

The International Relations Office will issue an Invitation letter for the visa application, and contact the Croatian embassies and consulates involved.

Accommodation:UNIZG offers accommodation in 2 student halls of residence to exchange students coming from our partner institutions. You can find a more detailed information about the student residences on the HOUSING pages of the International Relations Office. If you would like to apply for accommodation please use the UNIZG housing request form and send it to the email address in the form within the specified deadlines.

Arrival Information:Before their arrival, all beneficiaries will be provided with a Welcome guide containing detailed information about the transfer from the airport to Zagreb and about the practical procedures to be followed at the beginning of their stay.

Allowances:All beneficiaries will receive two monthly allowances in the first month of the stay, from the third months allowances will be paid on a monthly basis. Students must have enough money for first month of their stay as the first month allowance may be paid at the end of the first month (at earliest).

Residence permit:NON-EU/EEA citizens coming from a country that has a visa-regime with the Republic Croatianeed to apply for a visa via the Croatian embassy in their home country before departing for Croatia.
The list of countries whose nationals need a visa to enter Croatia can be found at the pages of the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Visas CANNOT be applied for or extended in Croatia! Please contact the Croatian embassy in your country of residence for more information. You will receive an acceptance letter from University of Zagreb that covers some of the documentation needed for your visa application.

In order to regulate the residence permit students need to submit the following documents:
• acceptance letter from the University of Zagreb stating the study purpose of your stay – in Croatian (you will get it at the orientation meeting from the International Relations Office upon your arrival),
• photo in colour (35x45mm),
• copy of the passport / ID card,
• proof of sufficient means of subsistence (printed statement of your bank account, scholarship confirmation or similar); minimum is 1000 HRK (approx. 120 EUR)/month,
• proof of secured accommodation – statement from the student hall of residence in Zagreb (to be received upon moving in) or in case of private accommodation rental contract and proof of ownership.
Students living in the student hall of residence can regulate the permit 30 days after the arrival in Zagreb, students in private accommodation should do it within 72 hours upon arrival.

Documents need to be submitted at the Central Police Station in Petrinjska 30, HR-10000 Zagreb.

Enrolment:Degree seeking students will be regularly enrolled through a facilitated procedure dedicated to Erasmus Mundus students.

Language Courses:Croatian language course are offered to all the grantees by the CROATICUM (Centre for Croatian as Foreign and Second Language). Other Croatian language courses are available in Zagreb.
